Conan, o bárbaro (também conhecido como Conan, o cimério) é um herói fictício, pertencente à obras do sub-gênero de espada e feitiçaria, que se originou em revistas pulp e desde então foi adaptado para livros, histórias em quadrinhos, vários filmes (incluindo Conan the Barbarian e Conan the Destroyer), séries de televisão animadas e live-action, videogames, role-playing games e outras mídias. O personagem foi criado pelo escritor norte-americano Robert E. Howard em 1932 em uma série de histórias de fantasia publicadas na revista Weird Tales.

HISTÓRIA DE ORIGEM

Nascido em um campo de batalhas e filho de um ferreiro de aldeia, aos quinze anos ele participa do bem-sucedido cerco à fortificação aquiloniana de Venarium, a qual foi construída em território da Ciméria. Logo após, entre os quinze ou dezesseis anos, deixa voluntariamente sua tribo e começa a vagar pelo mundo, tendo lutado ao lado dos loiros aesires (de Aesgaard, região que geograficamente corresponderia hoje à Escandinávia), sendo, posteriormente, escravizado pelos hiperbóreos. Escapando, atuou como saqueador, mercenário e pirata, sendo esta fase uma de suas mais marcantes devido a seu grande amor, a morena Bêlit, mais conhecida como a Rainha da Costa Negra, uma pirata shemita que comandava corsários negros e que veio a falecer nas mãos do último sobrevivente de uma raça milenar. Durante sua vida enfrentou guerreiros, feiticeiros, monstros, vampiros, demônios, lobisomens e até mesmo criaturas dimensionais.

CARACTERIZAÇÃO

Aparência: Conan é bronzeado, tem olhos azuis "mal-humorados" ou "fumegantes", uma "juba" de longos cabelos negros e tem cicatrizes - Howard menciona com mais frequência as cicatrizes em seu rosto. Ao contrário de muitas ilustrações modernas, Conan é peludo.

Nos contos de Howard, nenhum humano é descrito como mais forte do que Conan, embora vários sejam mencionados como mais altos (como o estrangulador Baal-Pteor) ou de maior porte.

Seu traje geralmente é uma tanga ou calça e sandálias, e sua arma é uma espada de alguma descrição, dependendo de sua sorte e localização.

Personalidade: Conan é caracterizado como cavalheiresco devido à sua propensão para salvar donzelas em perigo. Ele é honrado e tem um senso de lealdade duradoura. Em contraste com seu taciturno ancestral, Kull, Conan tem senso de humor. Ele possui grande força, combatividade, inteligência, agilidade e resistência.

Ele nunca mente e muitas vezes é brutalmente honesto, independentemente das consequências.
